Cast 350gr in the .416 Remington
Has anyone here used the RCBS 350gr .417” bullet in their .416 Remmy?

https://www.midwayusa.com/prod...010265854?pid=282505

The mold drops a pretty bullet and I’d like to find a load at or just below 2,000fps for plinking and WTD since I won’t be going to Africa in the near future.

im shooting it in a .416 Taylor.. 79gr of RL17 gets me about 2200-2250 out of a 20" bbl... several friends have provided the cast bullets to me as a gift... Norman Conquest can probably help here too...he's one of the guys that gave me the bullets,,,

Nyati Inc has an article on the web for reduced loads using 5744. They show loads for the .416 REM but not with 350 grain bullet. They do show a load for the .416 Ruger that uses a .350 gr Bullet loaded to produce 2000 FPS. Check it out. I don’t have the URL handy but I originally found by googling.

From Accurate data, 350 Lead FN @ 3.43" OAL in a 24" barrel:

5744 - - - 49.5 @ 2086 fps, 55.0 @ 2267 fps

45-46 gr should give 2000 fps, and no fillers needed.

I shot that bullet in a Ruger No. 1 in .416 Rigby over 50 grains of 5744 and got right at 2000. Very nicely accurate.

I use to use it in my 416 Taylor also. It made a real thumper on hogs and deer.

Jeffeosso,

This bullet is gas checked too. I guess you downloaded Hodgdon’s jacketed bullet data for H335?

I shoot a 315gr cast in my 416 Taylor at 950 fps it is really quite at that speed.

No need for a suppressor.

I need to get a 400gr and see how it sounds down low.

Great penetration kills well.

In my 416 Satterlee Arms Ruger with 22 inch obermyer barrel I'm using a 400gn cast, double diam proj with 30 gns of H 4227 (AR2205) gives me 1500 fps, with 60 GNS of Varget gives me a touch over 2000
