Gentlemen: In your opinion does Mag-Na-Porting or installation of a muzzle brake minimize, reduce, or mitigate chances of stock cracking? Thanks in advance for your response. Buliwyf

A muzzle brake certainly does.

A KDF type would put less stress on the stock as it pulls the gun forward... A Magnaport stops muzzle lift and drives the gun stright back, therefore the Magnaport would put more stress on the stock and could conceivably cause it to crack IMO...... Either way, the difference is not enough to be of importance..... IMPORTANT: What both brakes will do that is important, particularly in big bores is stress the hell out of you scope...Most scopes can handle big bore recoil without a muzzle break, few can with one on 458 Lott and up...Only one I know that handles that is a Leupold compact 2.5X....I have trashed the rest, all within 300 rounds and most with a lot less.....
