A friend of mine has told me the CZ 550 Safari Magnum Instuction Manual lists that the CZ 550 Safari Magnum is available in 416 Remington Magnum from the factory.
Can anyone confirm this for us? All I ever read about or see on the CZ website is the 416 Rigby.
Jim: Thank you for going to the effort to post the reference site. I must be doing something wrong though, I can't get it to pull up. I know the problem is on my end. I'll keep trying.
Any major manufacturer is unlikely to produce two different .416's at the same time. The market is too slim. Once the current supply of .416 Rigby rifles have been sold off (several years?), CZ might consider making the next run in .416 Remington.
I would expect their marketing department to announce that the Rigby is being discontinued, well in advance of announcing a run in the Remington version.
I would like to see the CZ Magnum in .416 Remington, .404 Jeffery and .458 Lott.
Unfortunately, I don't see any of this happening in the near future. Major changes in marketing strategy take several years in order to maximize sales. Changing the .416 and .458 won't happen while current rifles are still in the hands of distributors.
I think the problem is that the rifles are too nice and CZ doesn't need cartridge changes to influence sales, unlike Winchester and Remington.
With prices on the Chay Zed 550 Magnum as low as they are, pardon me if I don't find any problem with the current chamberings.
Buy your rifle, and then have the gunsmith your choice chamber and fit the barrel of your choice. The total cost to do so is less than many factory rifles.

My opinion as stated before is that win & rem have the .416 rem covered. CZ has given the alternate 416 in there chambering and creating there own market niche for a .416 chambered rifle. Masterful marketing in my opinion, they also have the action for the rigby round so it is a forgone conclusion.

Why would anyone complain about a safari rifle that costs as much as a Remington BDL 30-06? Take advantage of their line up, especially the .416 Rigby. No one else is going to make a better quality gun for under seven bills.
Is there a rumour floating around that they may offer it in a .50 cal ??? such as .500 Jeffery or A2 ??
I think the best thing they could do is to keep there current chamberings and add a .500 whatever as well as a .458 lott or a a .460 weatherby. They already have the boltface for either in the .416 or .375.
They could also offer it in a .338 lapua. With that big action they really can snare a big section of the market. I think there are a lot of rock & can and feral shooters such as myself who will buy a cz in a 500 whatever just to have it....

I see more 416 Rem.'s in Tanzania than any other caliber and more every year. I think that one will be around for a long time and its popularity grows each year..I believe all the new PH's coming to Tanz. have one...
No brass? I have not noticed that, but one can always make cases our to 300, 375 or 8mm Rem cases..
But who knows, the new RUM etc. may just catch on and kill the 416 Rem, but it won't be much of a chore to punch my 416 out to one of them, and resize all my 416 brass to use in my 375...However, I would probably just re-barrel it to the 404 Jefferys and let it go at that, thats one caliber that will always be around because all the new cases/calibers are built off of it...

The problem is that the CZ550 is too popular the way it is. The factory has no incentive to make changes. If everyone would stop buying them, CZ would have to offer more options to attract buyers.
