I picked up a Win. Classic SM in .375 H&H for $550 just before the “end†and need some advice on mounts. I’m wanting to go with the Leupold QRW set-up and use the XS low Weaver back up peep. My question(s): What height QRW rings for a Zeiss 2.5-8x32? Is the XS the way to go on a peep? I’ve already removed the crappy rear sight that came on it.

Don't know about the peep but if you want a new rear site check out New England Custom Gun. They have a good selection of high quality sights.

As far as mounts I would go with Talley QD's. I have them on my Safari Express and like them a lot.

Billhilly I'm anxious to hear of your progress on your rear sight question.
I have a Win M70 Classic Stainless Steel .375 H&H and am considering a similar change of rear sight to peep sight, I currently have a Leupold 2.5-8 x36 in low mounts on my rifle and really like the whole set up. I think if your Zeiss and my Leupold are similar in dimensions you too can do it with low mounts. Mine are Leupold standard style mounts but the heighth should be the same as QRW's. I am switching to the QRW's as soon as I decide which sight to get.
I have been looking in the Brownells catolog and find these options: "XS" peep sight for Weaver style bases $65, NECG for Weaver style $85, Brockman's pop up with integral Talley base for $125.
I've not used any of these yet but am on the fence. When looking at the NECG my mind tells me this looks the most durable and adjustable of these choices.
Please keep us informed on your progress!

Why not Talley low quick detachable rings and mounts and a Talley peep which mounts on the same base? You'll need the extended bases.

I don’t actually have the Zeiss yet as nobody’s got the 2.5-8x32 in stock yet that I can find. I do have the QRW bases and a Leupold 2-7x32. Sportsman’s Warehouse said they had the QRW rings when I called so I’m going to head down this weekend and pick some up.
I wanted to get the peep down lower than I could with the Talley mounts as the Weaver mount peeps sit lower. I’m leaning toward the low XS and a new front sight.
