bullcooner,
Great handle.
I saw Wolfe Pubs BIG BORE Rifles and Cartridges at Barnes&Noble yesterday, collecting dust in Evansville, IN.
Pp. 321-325 are about the 460 Van Horn, written by Bob Hagel.
Check this out.
Note 24"-barreled 458 Lott velocities but with a barrel 1/32" less than 19.5" for the 460 Van Horn, and in a standard Mauser 98/30-06-length action.
With a slow twist of 1:20".
Hope your twist is 1:14" or faster.

Book has been on my shelf since about 1991.
If I come across any 375 Van Horn data, I will let you know ...

From the February 1991 first and only (?) edition that I know of.

Wolfe Pub Wildcat Cartridges, Volume II
has the ".375 Van Horn" again by Bob Hagel, on pp.519-522.
That is a fat softcover book of almost 1000 pages.
Get that one too, from Wolfe.

.375Wby or .375RUM velocities from a shorter action with a 24" barrel.

Close to 2900 fps with a 26" 460 Van Horn, 350-grain bullet, and 94 grains of 3031, would not be surprising.

Some rifles are "tighter" than others ... might add another 100 to 200 fps by rifle variation in barrels even of same length, etc., etc., powder lot variation, etc., blah, blah, blah, ... higher pressures may explain higher velocities, etc, blah, blah, blah. Wink

Assume your 6.5" longer barrel adds about 150 to 200 fps to the Bob Hagel velocities, if it is of the same "tightness/looseness" and your powder lots are the same as Bob's.

Good luck!
You got a good start.
Have not shot your eye out yet. thumb
