I would prefer a crf big bore but each to there own....a rem will shoot well for what it's worth, I think with sako extracter it would be alright, is it a stainless .416 or not....for a while they offered a stainless .416 I think.

I understand your frustration. However, I only use Remington 700's, .280 RCBS, .300 WM, .375 H&H, and .458 Lott. IMO, the extractor is the weakest part of the 700. On each of mine, I have solved the extractor problems by having my gunsmith remove the factory ext. and installing a Sako extractor (costs about $100.00). I have had ABSOLUTELY no problems or extracor failures. I can't blame you for not wanting another 700...no one wants a rifle that may cause trouble, especially in a dangerous game situation. However, I'll not hesitate to take my Remingtons on any trip, anywhere.
