Mike-I prefer a falling block and plan on building one in the 4 bore barrel we get, when Badger starts making them this winter.I think reworked Borchardt might work.Cost over 2 grand, and Rob is trying one on the 12GAFH. Karl-Finding affordable actions is the problem. Can get 30 mm surplus barrels for about 250 bucks and rebore and rifle them a little bigger with lesser number and shallow rifling, and a little less twist.Cost at least 200 to do this plus we would have to get tooling set up, like we are doing with 4 bore.Have to get cases made for about 15-20 bucks each.A big press and dies.Lots of powder, as you only get 6-8 shots to the lb.Depending on actions you could get 4 grand in it real easy.Ed.

Mine is a 36" long octagon 1.5" flats smoothbore muzzleloader. . The barrel is 4150 steel and rated to 350 gr ffg and round ball load in a 1 3/8 diameter barrel. The barrel blank was about $225 I don't remember the cost of the rifled barrel blank but it was higher. I believe Rayl makes most of his barrels for muzzleloaders, but this one should be ok for the blackpowder cartridge loads as well.

Ed, Any idea what ballpark costs of a 2 bore cartridge gun might come to including say smoothbore barrel? Could be my dream gun since we lost our semi auto shotguns here. I can fire 10 oz of shot in one go with ths thing. Karl.

What action are you thinking of for a 4 bore? The more I shoot my 4 bore muzzleloader, I am getting more serious about building a true (1") 4 bore cartridge rifle.
