Rob-When I get my belted 626 HE brass built from BMG brass, I will send you a couple to see if you can build your 12 guage from hell. They will be engineered and ready in about a month.Going as big as 12 guage, there won't be any slant on the side, but the headspace will be perfect and safe on the belt.On another matter, I have been asked about making a rimmed version of my 458 HE.That I will try to do as we go along.Do you think it is good idea?Ed.

Ed- Thanks I'd love some of your cases. There should be a small shoulder left on the case when necked to 727, but probably not enough to safely headspace on. Thats of course why the belt is so attractive.By the way, what are you using to swage the belt onto the case once you've turned it?. A homemade swaging die? I still think your cartridge is just fine on a good singleshot and personally, I've never liked a rimmed case except in a double gun. -Rob

Rob-Yes, I am making my swages by reworking other dies and die blanks, and polishing them. And you are right about belts giving safe headspace, as long as all brass is built properly.I figure I can make 5000 belted cases a year partime, once the process is finalized.Be nice if it got around and grew to 10,000 a year. On my 458 HE, I would like to get it famous in doubles also, so if things work out we will build some with rims. But you know with a long case like that, if loaded to only double pressures, the case wouldn't expand and they would fall out.I loaded some down to 450 NE velocity and never had to resize.Just punched out primer with universal decapping die, reprimed, loaded and seated with seating die for 4 reloads. So any gun that doesn't have junk extractors, I would think should never have any trouble.Ed.
