Hey Guys, I've recently been offered a trade, and I'd love to hear some expert opinions before I 'pull the trigger'. My biggest concerns are that if I decide I don't want to keep this rifle, would it be an easy sell, and would I take a huge loss. Here are the details CZ 550 Magnum action with a PacNor Barrel. Factory bottom metal, but opened up to feed correctly. Holds two in the magazine, one in the chamber. Sits in a Lone Wolf synthetic stock specifically layed up for this barreled action. No open sights. Does have a muzzle brake. Standard 550 safety and trigger. Work was done by a local 'smith of good reputation (Mike Palazzo), and it's a moderately attractive rifle. Will come with dies and a modified Roch Chucker to hold the 1.25" dies, as well as 50-100 pieces of brass. This particular rifle was set up to take the 2.8" Nyati, and uses the rebated rim of the 416. On the trade, I'll be cash in it somewhere between $2500-3000. To me, this seems like a barrel and brake job, dropped into a stock with some feed work. Does that mean this is a $1500 set up, or a $3000 set up? If it looks like it's equitable, I'll probably do it, just to have it. Until it detaches my retinas, I'll keep it. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

It would not be worth $2500 - $3000 to me. I picked up a "new" CZ in 505Gibbs with an awesome factory stock (custom shop) for $1500.00, so if you could do the same(with proper caliber rifle for the base cartridge) you could just do a rebarrel installing nice sights and be there for maybe $2000 and have something really nice. A plastic stock and no sights on a big bore can't look very attractive or be very useful, at least to me. I think better deals can be had or just do your own build.

It depends on how much you like the 585 nyati???? Used to be bigdoggy700 with 929 posts . Originally registered as bigdoggy 700 in July 2006.

If you think its a fair deal and you want it--- great. I do not think you will be able to get your money out of it if you want to sell it. I would be positive I wanted it long term before stepping in this deal.

Stokes I like mine! Robgunbuilder will tell you there is a lot of work in one of these. So, what is the smith time worth? I have the rebated head of a 416 as well. I have a smith that has made the tooling to turn thr bertram brass to proper head size. I have bertram brass that I have reloaded over eleven time and still no problems! If you get this rifle and need to have brass turned I'll give you his info. This is mine built on the weatherby action with single stacked magazine. The stock is a bell and carlson with the aluminum bedding block.

Thanks Bigdog! Dan Yes, It is the fastfire II with the 3.5 min. dot. I have had it on this rifle for about 100 rounds and no problem. I took it off of my 50 alaskan in which I ran probably 500rds through it with no problem.

If it had the correct( More desirable) full size NYATI case head, then you might get $2500 for it. As it is, $1750 is as high as I'd go. I looked at building the .416 case head varient of the NYATI years ago but rejected the idea and went with the full sized version myself. The reason is Whoever buys it will need someone to turn down the brass cases for the gun and not everyone can do that, so its a extremely limited market( people comfortable with custom turned case heads inside the wildcat Big BORE community) Personally if you can get it cheap enough its a great starting place for a .600OK. No way would I trade and give &2500-$3000 inn cash for this, but as I said, the action ( needs bolt face opened and stock are perfect for a .600Ok. Since it already feeds the NYATI, it should easily feed a .600OK all you need is another barrel and brake. -Rob Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large numbers to do incredibly stupid things- AH (1941)- Harry Reid (aka Smeagle) 2012 Nothing Up my sleeves but never without a plan and never ever without a surprise!
