I recently came into some German bullets and Ive read about them many years past..but Ive never shot a head of game with them not shot shot them for that matter..

9.3x62, 258 gr., Old brown box, DOH-Mman-oigeschosse Bieispitz. the - is none readable letters..

Need transilation and has anyone used them, they are a complicated bullet with 3 types of metal? or so it appears, and as I recall, white metal..

Ive loaded up 60 rounds to use on deer or elk..

Also got a 100 9,3x62 gr. old Norma 286 gr. silver bullets with lots of lead exposed..

What game would these be best used on short of werewolves being silver and all..

H mantell geschosse Bleispitze 258 gr 9.3mm

The original Brenneke H Mantel made by RWS.

The Rear core is a harder lead alloy mix to the Front core with it's exposed lead tip. Blei = lead and Spitze = tip.

The jacket is copper or a copper alloy.

Great bullet when shot at standard 9.3 x 62 velocities..... at 9.3 x 64 velocities they change to bombs literally. To bring the velocity to bullet construction capable level RWS loaded the 9.3x64 with a 293 gr H-Mantell

The Germans were experts at making various forms of mixed core bullets. As example the multitude of Bullet designs in the case of the German 8mm
(7.9MM)

Yes a stepped spire point..Ive read a good bit about them over the years mostly good things. I really appreciate Alfs info on keeping them at lower velocity albiet Ive I got ahead of myself and loaded them pretty warm at about 2500 fps so I have bombs I suspect, I will start with coyotes when it cools down. May need to pull bullets and change to low velcity, but I have lots of loaded stuff that works and only 50 of these so may just play with them and maybe shoot a whitetail and get the results...I sectioned a Norma 286 RN and it to is liable to be for yesterdays low velocity, I have a 100 of those and they might be elk worthy?? Why am I doing this I don't know, just curious I guess. I will report all results in about december if I can remember this thread??? old rotflmo

BTW I got two boxes of 270 gr. Speers and I shot some deer and plains game with them some years ago and they were butter soft on everything I shot, but got the job done and no pass throughs so never used them after that, I will load these up at 2100 fps or thereabouts

This Husky and most Mausers Ive owned in 9.3x62 like the 7x57 and 8x57 are terribly underloaded by the US factories and reloading books and some of that applies to long throats and magazines that match, and thats a good thing, Mention of this is made in Peter Vanderwalts AFrican DG book with tons of reloading information in reference to the 9,3x62..

I have used the H-Mantle bullet a few times. They are like a partition bullet. The front end causes massive damage, leaving the rear part to penetrate through. Friends in Germany love them on driven boar as they are real killers and if you are a bit off they will still cause massive damage to the vitals. On driven hunts you want animals dead asap, as wounded boar can cause a lot of damage to those who have to follow them up.

But they do make a bit of a mess of the carcass.

Thanks to all and I'll give them a try this hunting season on deer and perhaps elk if I can get a depredation tag for a cow..
