Enfield actions start at $65 and go up from there depending on condition. Certainly Winchester is the most desirable. having the ears ground off does not add value because it might be screwed up.

I bought my Winchester P-17 british war reserve in 96 and dealer cost at the time was $275. Remingtons are a little cheaper, not much, and the eddystones are fairly cheap. The P-14's are usually good quality and a fair price. I belive there's a shop in town here that has a whole box of p-14 actions.

Look closely at the ground off part. If it is just ground flat, it is as 500 Grains said, not adding to the value and perhaps lowering it if it was screwed up. BUT, if someone went to the time and expense to fill in the rear bridge sight recess, and properly contour it to either Remington model 30 or Mauser 98 specs, it would save you at least $100 in labor. Sometimes you stumble across little gems like that.

And one other time / money saving tip: Remington 30 triggerguards, as Numrich occassionally has in stock, are the same as straightened P-14 / Model 1917 units, and cost $13.
