HAs anyone used English sling hooks? I am trying to decide if I should put them on the .505 or use regualr QD swivel attachments. I was wondering how much noise they made and if they are a pain or if they still work OK. I have a set I got from a place called Trader's Keith about 10 years ago. Technically not true English hooks, but rather a 19th century Winchester version of ht ehooks, but close enough for me. Is there currently a source for them? Thanks

Marc, I can't answer any of your questions, but if you ever decide to part with those hooks, let me know. I'm looking for a set. Brent

Mark Hooks are typically not English. The rawhide thong is. Hooks rattle and mar the finish, like swivels. Thongs do not. Thongs are also easy to untie and take off and to replace when worn. Despite the above I have hooks on a 2" Canvas Sling on my 404 and I like it a lot.

I have used the hooks, didn't like them at all...I'm with Mickey1, You can get those from Jeffs outfitters, www.jeffsoutfitters.com, 573-651-3200 or Cape Outfitters, Cape Girardeau, Mo., and I cannot find their contact numbers... That said, just a set of QDs will work on the double rifle eyelets, and barrel band swivels as well as anything..I put a little tape on them to keep them from rattling or clinking on the metal...
