I have just returned from putting 40 rounds through my new cz550 in .375 H&H. As I've mentioned in previous posts, I consider myself recoil sensitive. I was concerned this was too much gun for me(biggest I previously had is .30-06). I was literally trembling for fear of recoil on the first shot. I found the cz to be no problem at all! I assume it's due to the extra weight. My 06 is an m-70 featherweight. The stock fit well. I had no problems with it hitting my cheek as others have noted. The action also seems to be getting "slicker" with use. The more I handle this rifle, the more pleased I am with the purchase.

Ron,
Finally I've found someone else who actually likes the stock. Thank God, I thought I was the only one.

citori3,

CZ is a great gun, and possibilities to upgrade this gun are huge.

Recoil requires lots of practise to be handled.

I have four CZ hogbacks. I like them that way because they are distinctive.

Glad you are pleased with the CZ! It is a real sleeper that more folks should try! I have owned many BRNO 602s over the years, (the same rifle) and I find the stock to my likeing. The design seem to suck up the recoil quite well.

The 375 H&H is a very well ballanced cartridge, and is the perfect "ONE RIFLE" for the world!

Enjoy, my friend! [Cool]

Count me in on the hogsback stock fan club. MY only CZ is a 452 Standard, but it is a sweet little rifle and that stock feels great. Next CZ has to be a 550 .375 H&H. I have no need for it, but that never was a factor. [Cool]

ZKK-602's and CZ 550's are great guns, especially for the money. And they're big enough to absorb a lot of the recoil. If you don't like the shape of the stock or the quality of the checkering, it's an easy matter to reshape and refinish the stock with a rasp and a little sandpaper. I once had a ZKK-601 in 223 with the "deluxe" or California-style stock which I didn't like. I filed off the rollover cheekpiece to straighten the comb, added a border to the remaining cheekrest for a European look, slimmed down the forend, added a 90 degree ebony forend tip, opened up the grip and added a steel grip cap and then installed a thin Old English pad. After finishing with Permalin, I recheckered in a classic wrap around point pattern. Turned out beautiful, didn't look anything like the original. This particular rifle had beautiful figure in the wood, something you don't always get with Brno's/CZ's.
