Is there a difference between this round and the 50 Beowulf, besides the rim? Anyone here any thing about this round being chambered in rifles?

Thanks,
Kent

I'm picking up a 500 S&W next weekend. Literally the first pistol I've bought in 25 years! From what I can tell it looks to me like the basic brass is the same. The Beowulf just has the rim rebated. This may be the real reason why the Beowulf uses large pistol primers.-Rob

Gentlemen [Wink] - they seem to be identical cartridges with the exception of the rebated rim. As far as primers are concerned, only Hornady seems to be loading with the Large Pistol Magnum primer, the other factory loads have ALL been swithed to Large Rifle Primers. If you don't believe me just google search. I even think I read this on S&W's website, but it may of been on one of the ammo manufacturer's sights.

Kenteosso, I thought you were getting a 405 Winchester, cause it is so powerful!
