Bought the new Magnum about a month ago. Knew I was going to by one as soon as they came out so I purchased the reloading dies, shell holder and some 440 Hard Cast Corbon even before getting the gun. Been reloading it ever since. I find it best to use shooting gloves especially if your going to shoot more than 20 rounds. Hodgdon has some data out so far. I've been using H110, H4227, and Lilgun for powders. The knew Starline brass comes with a Large Rifle primer pockets now. The first cases primer pockets took Large Pistol primers. Hornady 350 XTP's and Sierra 400 JSP's are about all I have loaded so far. I'm going to try some 350 JSP's next. I've ordered some 440 Hard Casts from Midway. This months catalogue is now offering the Hard Casts for the first time. Other than the 500 Smith the other big bore handgun I have is a Ruger Single Action Super Blackhawk Hunter. Have tried many handloads in it.

Jim, Welcome to the forum. I've got a friends' 500 S$W in the safe right now and have been playing with a couple factory loads. I think he'll want it back before I get time to reload or hunt with it, but they sure are fun. The recoil seems quite reasonable for the muzzle energy they produce. It would be fun to tip over something other than steel plates with it. Take care, Kyler

Kyler, Thanks for the welcome. Did some more loading today. Loaded some Hornady 350 XTP. Won't cost nearly as much as shooting the factory loads. Shot 32 rounds at a local shooting range on Friday night. Tried many different combinations. H110 seems to be the smoothest powder. LilGun seems to pack the most punch. The Hornady 350 XTP's are more accurate than the Sierra 400 JSP's. Does anyone else have any load data or any load stories to share? Once again thanks for the welcome.
