One of the best fitting rifle stocks that I have ever thrown up for both iron sights and a scope is a CZ hogback, or bavarian style stock. I don't ever see american rifles stocked with this bent looking stock. Not the prettiest looking stock, but it sure fits. I have a winchester that I am considering restocking. My question is this; does the monte carlo rifle stock do the same thing as the hogback but without the bend? Thanks for the help! Gary

I prefer the older style stock on the Model 70, as it just feels better and doesn't render the sights unusable.

Stock fit is highly individual; as for looks, the hogback is considered unattractive by many U.S. gun owners (I don't know how the Canuckistanis feel about them).

I don't really like them very much myself, but since there is a large contingent of European immigrants I do see quite a few of them. Most of them, however, are purchased elsewhere and imported as far as I know. I prefer a straight stock myself - fits nice and seems to recoil backwards more "evenly".
