Does anyone have any experience with the Sauer S-90? Due to the lack of recent info on this design, I thought it was out of production until an e-mail to the company got me a very friendly reply from one Mr Christoph Meyer emphatically denying it's demise. The few reviews that I've read either spoke about it's smooth action or about how it was theoretically not a very rigid action but which was perfect in practice. hanks in advance for any info anyone may have to offer. ------------------

The Sauer 90 succeeded to the 80 and is a very high quality rifle that's still being made. The only shortcoming I find with it is its rear locking bolt (i.e. roller locking la H&K), which is hard on case life. The same reproach may be made against all rear locking rifles (former Steyr-Mannlicher for instance)as they allow the case to lengthen, hereby promoting early case separation. Of course, this only matters to handloaders. However, I'm a great fan of the Sauer 202 rifle, which locks up in front and directly in the chamber (it also allows barrel/caliber switching). I own one of these in 7x64 and, in out of the box condition, it keeps 5 shots between .3 and .5 MOA with selected handloads. ------------------

I have owned a Sauer 90 for many year ,it first served as a moose gun in 308Win, but got rebarreled to a 243W (due to a 9,3X62 rifle that was a better moosegun). The actin is very smooth and silent , I have always reloaded for it and have not taken notise of any problems with case separation. I have only had some problems with the magazine catch / release mechanisme. It shoot straight and have functioned great for my use. I also have a 202 and a 200 also good rifles but not nearly as silent and smooth as the 90. S
