Their taking a lesson from Ruger as near as I can tell. The Hornady support guy I talked to a month (or so) ago told me mid 09 was the scheduled ship date...

Steve Hornady had some cut in half samples at SCI, and they looked like the real deal! Cool

I like the looks of them. One thing I noticed in some Hornady literature was that the new DGX (expanding) was noted to expand to "1.25X its original diameter". 1.25 expansion doesn't strike me as being much at all. Maybe Hornady got spooked by how soft their big bore bonded core bullets were.

Come on 404 Jeffery!

Got a new Lock, Stock & Barrel catalog in the mail yesterday and they have Hornady .404 Jeffery ammo listed, two loads 400gr. DGX and 400 gr. DSX at 81.95 box of 20.

Probably not available yet though.

But they are showing the .375, 416, 458, etc. DGX/DGS bullets in stock on the website.

And at liveable prices. dancing

404J, 470 Nitro, and 500 Nitro all look like really attractive offerings. Just as they did with the 416 Rigby and 458 Lott, I hope the modest price of this ammo deflates the downright outrageous price of most factory ammo in this caliber. $300 for a box of 20 cartridges is just silly, no matter what the chambering. Hopefully, they'll have more information at the upcoming NRA meeting in KY.

Seems odd that they are not going to offer the 416 rem, it seems as though the 416 rem is fading fast.

These new bullets, and the variety of loads Hornady now offers, have gone a long way toward restoring my confidence in their DG ammunition.

Wether anyone continues to offer factory ammo or not , the 416 Remington does anything but fade ... Yesterday I was shooting mine with a 300 gr Hawk @ 2900 fps .......Mild recoil , major reach and smash And the 400 gr KBC @ 2425 .....Really good smash and enough reach for heavy and dangerous game ...

Not saying the other rounds arn,t great also ...but everything that has died to the 416 Rem mag . proves they have alot of catching up to do ....
If the 416 Ruger comes out in an Alaskan version with a different stock , I will get one , but blue and wood stocks just aint for me , Other than CZ,s .And thats only because they arn,t available in stainless ....

.If it can,t be grown , its gotta be mined ....
