Gents:

I now have my CZ back from Dennis Olson. The barrel cut to 23" is a world of difference! Thanks Jeffeosso for the recommendation. The AHR safety is excellent. Dennis built up the bolt release into a pad and he also built up,knurled and relieved the floor plate release button. The large, Oberndorf style bolt handle he put on by Half Moon is so much better than the factory. Teh factory barrel shoots better than I can so it is staying. It's perhaps a tad thick but it settles well even for 23". A few more mods but that is pretty much it. Next is the stock.

In short, a very good rifle as a platform I believe!

Pictures? The CZ550 is as good a platform for a magnum length cartridge as any of the fancy and expensive custom actions.

I took la machine to the range today. picked up a box of facotry remington 270 grain core lokts because i wasn't in the vacinity of our handloads. i set up the lead sled and shot irons at 50 yards. first three shots i covered up with those little sticky circles the exploding targets come with so you can keep shooting. next three were covered up by one more. last three were shot freehand and were not that close but were in the killing circle. i was surprised at how well those barrels shoot!

CZ makes great rifles, especially for the $$$; and a fine platform to build on. Just look at the honeys Wayne Jacobson builds at AHR.

The 375 H&H is the second finest all-around hunting round ever devised by the hands of man.

just my humble opinion, but you will find few honest and experienced hunters to disagree with either assertion.
