I just spoke with Andy on the .550 bullets.

He'ld like use to line up a run of the same jacket size... in other words, let's get the .550 ORDER together, and make sure you order the specific weights you want.

This will be a "closed" run... anyone can get in the run, BUT these bullets will be made FOR this run, not for stocking.

I also got the prices for the 650 grs.

650gr .035" jacket box of 50, $53.50
650gr .065" jacket box of 50, $66.50

You can order any FULL BOX weight/jacket you want in this run, just remember the minimum unit is 50 of any combo.

these are a true Round nose, not a PP or semi anything...

If you want in on this, state what you are wanting here (jsut to share) and email info@hawkbullets.com with the title "550 bullet run" and he will take your order, and ship and bill you directly.

the run should begin early in june.

btw, Andy says the .550 is really building in interest, so get your order in.

I have a business plan for Andy...

It would be fabulous if he would pick up the Bridger line of brass solids. All he needs is a CNC lathe ($40K used) and some half hard brass bar stock. Or he could make them from appropriate copper. The consuming public just loves those bullets.

And I think there is an untapped market for FN solid bullets for the lever crowd in such calibers such as the 50-110 and 45-70.

From first hand experience you will need a Form 10 (Manufacturer of destructive devices) license to make any bullet over .500 calibers. This is a $3000.00 license for three years. It is not only for loaded ammunition but for any component as well. Check the regulations carefully.

Jeffe, I sent you a PM

Jeffe,

Just ordered 1 box each of .035 jacket 500, 600, 650 and 700. I am really interested in the Woodleigh bullets as well. Any hope for a Barnes X?

JKS,
thanks for the update... wwhat 550 are ya building?

I haven't heard back from woodliegh, but i'll write them once a week until the annoyance factor gets too high for them to ignore us.

On the barnes.... why, I hadn't thought of them... Can you imagine a triple shock 650 or 600 gr?

Jeffe, That is th4e sight I am going with. I had wanted to put a peep on but with the rib it has to be leaf sights. The two leaf will work out well. I was really wanting a Brockman hiden peep but I will wait for a different rifle for that one.
I am already getting anxious waiting and it has only just begun.

Jeffe,

I decided to build the 550 instead of the 600OK as I had planned...my CZ 416 is the donor rifle. I really like the variety of bullet weights we have for the 550 already.
Mike Scherz is going to handling all the smithing and stocking. I have been laying back a bit to see how the first one(s) turn out...Mike says the first shooter isn't far off.

Yeah, a big Barnes 600 or 650 XXX would be pretty darn cool.
I think it would be a pretty good mulie and elk bullet!

John,
Great to hear that. I spoke with Mile some today... I think he'll make fantastic rifles!! And no worries about some garage smith (like me) screwing up the feeding, and then taking a month to fix it...

Best of luck
