I posted this in reloading with no response, think I will try here I have some new Bell, headstamped 470NE Rigby cases, that are 3.230" long. The "book" call out an OAL Case length of 3.250. What are the length of your Cases? Jim "Bwana Umfundi" NRA

I have some brand new Norma 470 cases and they also measure 3.230. The Barnes manual recomends trimming to 3.150. I just measured some original Kynock loaded rounds from the 1950s. They measure 3.230. 465H&H

465H&H, thanks for your post. Since my cases were some of the last made by Bell, I was wondering if they using up the last of their material. Somewhere in the back of my head I think the Norma Cases are thicker? Thoughts? Could you weigh one? Thanks, Jim "Bwana Umfundi" NRA

I measured some of my unused Mast Technologies 470 NE brass headstamped BeLL with the small 'e'. They measured 3.238 3.236 3.241 3.242 3.238 3.243. These were random selections from 2 boxes. These were purchased several years ago. I never paid much attention as I ALWAYS trim and chamfer all my new cases before loading. Don't know any other way to start off even. I don't believe I would trim my cases back as far as the Barnes manual suggests. Barnes has had miss prints before. I would wait until they get over 3.25 and trim them back to 3.25.
