The Remington spartan thread got me thinking about cheap fun doubles, and made me think about the various cheap 12 ga doubles on the market. I was thinking a roundball load out of a coach gun would be heaps of fun. Anyone tried it, and can they at least keep on a paper plate at 30 paces? __________________________________________________ The AR series of rounds, ridding the world of 7mm rem mags, one gun at a time.

BP is a good bunch. When I shot a lot more scattergun I dealt with them all the time. Never had a single complaint about 'em. Now to make your coach gun shoot better, drill a hole in the lead ball and lay a cross of 6" monofiliment fishline across the hole then drive in a flush-fitting plug. Load the ball with the line down. When you shoot it, the fishline will stream out behind the ball and stabilize it like fletching on an arrow. You should get much better accuracy out of it though most shotguns are "regulated" to cross at 25 yards. Good luck. Sarge Holland's .375: One Planet, One Rifle . . . for one hundred years!

Used to shoot balls in 12 ga. Used 14ga balls, that is what the old mould said on the side, and loaded them in a shotcup. A light 1 1/8 oz trap was used. Be sure the ball and wad do not fit too closely at the choke. Use pure lead. I never put them on paper.

Mine isn't a coach gun..It's a Tristar 12 ga sxs w/ 3.5" chambers, cylinder bores, and rifle sights. It's my turkey gun and it happens to shoot handloaded 1 oz balls with those plastic vanes attached into 1" groups at 50 yards. Haven't done much work with it lately....but it's a blast to shoot! Years ago and a bit dumber my buddy and I used to load 69cal lead balls in 12 3" loads, we got the idea from some old Polish paper loads, we wire them together like grape shot and loaded them hot with blue dot powder,, was hell on deer Stay Alert,Stay Alive Niet geschoten is altijd mis Hate of America is the defeat position of failed individuals and the failing state

I tried some cluster bombs and was able to keep them inside the black at 25 yds. I borrowed the mold from 45nut. This was out of my elcheapo chineese coach gun.
