I realize I am breaking my own rule, but. jeffeosso did you make those two rifles yourself? They look very nice. How much did you pay for those stocks?

another picture added.

i made these rifles, starting with a mexican mauser action that I bought from shadow and a junker full mil enfield.

the picture with the tan hide is a cape buffalo hide I got from ray, courtney boots that John Harris helped me get, size 15 (heh), my old hat named after my favorite guide, and a hunting rig I make.

other than bluing the steyr and having pacnor put the barrel on (they screwed up the threads on the first one, and made it good, gratis) I did everything on these.

The 500, larger stock, f990 pad, is rust blued.

Dave, sure is prettier without the shop grime on it, aint it?

the stocks are from www.gunstocks.com and Henry will set the price from them today <grin>

thanks for looking
jeffe

Hi Jeffe,
The rifles look great. The stock on the 500 looks awesome. The elephant feet in the photo makes for a nice touch. [Big Grin] Will that be your African combo.
Take care,
Dave

Jeffe, Is that the first or second stock on the 500? It is a shame if that is the one you broke. You do very nice work my friend.

Even Jeffe can tell when those two go off. I shot the 376 (and his 416) at the Houston shoot, it shoots even better than it looks.

Jeffe,

Beautiful work! Can I have the Mex Mauser back now? I'll give you hmmmm, $10 more than you paid for it. Yea, that's the ticket. [Wink]

Seriously, really great work.

Now as to the size 15's, can we change your name to "Big Foot"? Es Muy Viejo!

Jeffe, what kind of camera did you get? Does it do closeups? My camera leaves alot to be desired.
My Huskavarna .350 mag has real nice wood, but it doesn't show up in the picture.

Beautiful rifles - the pleasure of shooting a beautiful rifle that you make yourself must be far greater than that of shooting one that is bought. Congratulations not only on your owning two very beautiful guns but also on your craftmanship.

Good hunting!

Very nice. There is something about those crooked bolt handles like the one on your 500 that just appeal to me. Both rifles look great!

If you don't mind me asking what Grade of wood are those (using their standard) and is that black walnut?

Rob, Mel... everyone

thanks TONS...I have really enjoyed building these... and I actually don't have a full blown project right this minute... putting one together,

Browningguy has a nifty 98 german stalking rifle, lots of drop, thin thin light stock, in 8mm. I am thinking about building one like it, in a big bore (more later). I'll expose my ignorance, in that I don't know lots about GERMAN stalking rifles, as I've copied the british and american ones.

Dave,
I like the dogleg bolt... thought about changing it a couple times, just never did!!! The wood, on the scoped rifle (mex 36 376 steyr) is Henry's english #1, and the 500 is, i believe, a "gimme the best #5 for X dollars, that is pretty straight through the wrist" and setup for iron sights.

PC,
the 500 is a rem enfield p17. While NOT as hard as a 1903a3, i think, it will still break mills if you chatter at all. Blued nice, though

<headed to the range>
