A "Safari" 375 H&H Login/Join

I did not really have a "Safari" 375 H&H.

My 375 H&H's consist of a Blaser Tracker [19 3/4" bbl] and a "skinny" Magna-Ported 375 bbl.

Both would work in Africa, but not the traditional "fat" bbled 375.

So on my last trip to Heritage Arms I got a Blaser "Safari" 375 H&H bbl.

The Safari bbl is "fat" ie big around and has good iron sights.

It will fit my Safari synthentic reciever or my fancy wood strocked reciever with the Safari fore end.

When you put the standard kick stop in the rear of the stock the rifle balances perfectly.

The Blaser holds 4 rounds and is the fastest bolt rifle on the planet.

It handles and fits perfect. It functions perfect. Trigger perfect.

The Blaser scope mount is the best factory scope mount made.

It is very accurate.

Since I have been using "regular Blaser R 93's" for several years, there is no learning curve.

I checked the feeding with Spitzers, Round Nosed bullets, and the Federal 300gr Flat nosed Trophy Bonded Solids, perfect.

If I did not hunt the BIG stuff with doubles, I would have to have a Blaser barrel in 416 Rem Mag, as them Blasers are just perfect.

Oh my ... consumed by the "dark side" after such an amazing start! Big Grin

I like the safari .375. At least I think the Winchester SS Classic .375 fits that description of barrel contour. It is a bit nose heavy but works very well from sticks and across the window sill of a blind as a result. Certainly not "whippy."

"Each to their own" is probably the best response to this one.

The bad thing about Blasers are that they are so hard to shoot accurately.

Having to shoot with your eyes closed because the guns are so ugly sure puts you at a big disadvantage.

I would rather use a Marlin 45-70 in Africa than a Blaser!

I am beginning to think that our friends in the US are getting different ones than the ones we get here.

The stock is an abomination!

Besides, Walter LOVES it, so the least I can do is HATE it clap

Right out of the box the Blaser is the most accurate rifle I have ever shot. I have shot NE450#2's Blaser as well as my best friend's Blaser with 375 H&H and 257 Whby barrels. All these barrels were just incredibly accurate.

I realize no one likes change, least of all double rifle shooters. The Blaser system is different, expensive, non-traditional and just weird. However, if a man wanted to have a rifle system to take on a hunt and have several options, to deal with whatever he wanted to hunt that day, Blaser is that system.

Unlike the antiquated straight walled hold over black powder round like the 45/70, the Blaser is a weapon system of the future.
Just my opine.

I have an almost all original pre-64 M70 in 375 H&H that I am toying with the idea of letting it go. Any interest?

I saw my first ever Blaser in the Gunshop yesterday. It was a 2 barrel set and I think I can truly say with no doubt,in the many years I've been involved with rifles that is the least pretty rifle I have ever seen. I did have a straight pull once, an SR30, but it looked almost like a rifle. To be almost honest I believe the same way about synthetic stocked rifles. To me a rifle must LOOK good as well as function well. This is for SPORTING rifles. Rifles for social use are another subject.

Blaser users seem to love them but I can't get over the looks, the glare, all the plastic parts and the poor fit. Not to mention the price seems excessive.

I used to use a Model 1905 .280 Ross and it never blew back in my face. Why is it that people have this belief about straight pull rifles? (As is the myth about re-assembly...you would have to be very stupid to not notice that the bolt was "wrong" when you chambered a round).

Having said that I too don't like the aesthetics of the Blaser either. Ross go the line right, at least in the "Highland Stalking Model" that I once had but not the Model 1910, when it came to straight pulls...and the bolt handle shape.

So I think that getting a straight pull bolt rifle to look like a thing of beauty has always been a problem. There aren't many rifles that use that system, throughout history, that are easy on the eye.

But, in truth I found that the so called "straight pull advantage" is just that. So called. Being a "Brit" there is nothing that will beat an SMLE or No4 for speed.

But the reputed accuracy of the Blaser system I do envy.

Can we see some pictures of the "new toy"? That would be nice.

First of all, let me say hello to all of the shooting community! What a great website this, its keeps me coming back as soon as I have a minute to spare! lol

My post does not have much to do with the Blaser rifles as I have never owned one, but more to do with what makes a beautiful rifle to one, and an ugly rifle to others. I thought I would post a few pictures of my setup. If I trust my instinct, I would say that most people would find my setup lacking taste... As for me, I love it and think its a beauty. Now if Walter finds my rifle of great taste, I might have to consider oredering a new stock LOL jumping

For me the sauer 202 offers all the features of the Blaser at a small fraction of the cost and far superior looks. Construction, finish and accuracy is all top notch on the sauers. I just can't see any reason to buy the Blaser when you can buy a sauer 202. I'm sure the sauer would outsell the Blaser if it was advertised like the Blaser is.
