Hi Andre, No I'm very sorry but I do not have them as most of my collection of gun magazines were accidently distroyed and I have just been recently trying to get replacement copies myself. quick questions- was it re-bored or re-barreled? military stock, and modified, or re-stocked? what mauser is it? thanks. | |||

In the german issue Harald Wolf didn't explain exactly what kind of mauser system it was. The Gun is rebarreled with a barrel he had in his working shop. This is a new laminated stock, because he didn't want to wast a good stock for a rifle to be used in the jungle Florian | |||

I too lost all my Hatari issues trying to share them with friends and my father. That was one of the neater issues. Harold is an intereting man. He zero personality over the phone though. Typically German! I like the German people, they are clean, industrious, and some how manage to not destroy a tiny nation with 83 million people. However, they all need a shot of English hospitality! | |||

Everybody had one of those right after WW2, when you could pick up a Mauser or springfield for nothing and have the local smith spif it up for $35.00. I had more than a few of them. They worked like a charm and some of those old smiths could put a pretty darn good trigger job on them. Never made a big bore, but maybe I will make me one like Harolds as I have a barreled action in 416/375 Ruger, that would be a neat and practical gun. I love this gun, I would love to have one like it, but probably in another caliber. A short actioned mauser drop mag 450 Marlin would piss everyone off. Yep that'll do it! | |||

For "old times' sake":   I let my subscription lapse due to lost issues, never replaced by Harald The Kraut. Good mag when I could get it. Is it still being delivered to any remaining subscribers? Hatari Times anyone? | |||

I believe there as only been a few issues in the past couple of years. Quality-wise the bar was set pretty high from the start. A couple of the recent issues that I have received have not met standards of the early issues. I understand that most read Hatari Times for the hunting stories, and I am in this camp. But I would not mind reading an issue of two centered on rifles. Harold's rifle articles are outstanding. Jason "You're not hard-core, unless you live hard-core." _______________________ Hunting in Africa is an adventure. The number of variables involved preclude the possibility of a perfect hunt. Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt. Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure. -Jason Brown | |||
