Which Warne's Work? or www
I currently have a set of CZ rings for my CZ550 Safari and a Leupold 1.5-5 Vari-x III. I want to mount the scope on the rifle using Warne Quick Detachable Mounts. I went to the Brownells web-site and the Warne web site but couldn't find what size I need or a stock number. Any help appreciated.

Talley offers quick detachable rings for the CZ550, and those are the ones that I would use.

Go to www.huntamerica.com and select the Talley rings option. You can order via internet right from there.

I tried Warne QD for my old CZ 550, I think they are for a 19 mm (brno)dovetail, the largest brno/cz dovetail. However, they were crap, shot them to pieces with just 20 full power rounds. I dont know if the Warnes are to blame or if its CZs tolerances that are hard to comply to, but thats my experience with the Warnes anyway. Brownells refunded me so fast I suspect I wasnt the first one with that problem. I went with conetrol daptar bases and rings, not at all detachable but totally recoil proof and perfect for my use.

I've had absolutely no problems with the Warne QD rings for the Bruno/CZ550 on any of my guns.-Rob

trb,

what actually happened to those rings ?? warne are supposed to be among the best. I have one set of warne qd's for my .375 and have ordered a couple of sets of Talley QD's at the advice of people on this forum for other bigger rifles, I also ordered an extra set of talley screws & levers to replace the spring loaded warne set up at the advice of a poster here, was it the spring loaded feature that was ruined ??. I would have purchased 3 sets of talley's but I already had the warne QD's.

I use nothing but Warnes and have never had any problem.

My Warnes lost the recoil lug, the thingie on the rear rings that go into the recess on the left side of the rear bridge on the action. It was torn of and the rear ring slid with forward, with the scope. Maybe I could have tightened the front ring more around the scope, so it would take up more of the recoil forces, the front ring only moved very slightly. Or maybe my rings were just produced on an early monday morning (you know, shaky production operator...) I dont know, but the lug on my rings only had maybe a millimeter of contact in the action recess, so either the rings or the action must have been out of specifications.

Trb,

any possibility that the lug had stress fracture or something of that nature in the metal ??

I had a set of warne fixed mounts on my .585 that withstood about 50 shots with no movement or problem whatsoever, I have taken them of simply because I want detachables, I ordered talley's at the advice of folks here, I also want to see what all the fuss is about. Rob has warne QD's on his .585 as well, I would not despair TRB maybe you happened to get a faulty pair, was warnes customer service hepful with this situation ??

My rings appeared to be soft, as the lug came of looking like a blob of overheated solder. I returned the rings to Brownells and got a refund straight away. No explanation though, but I didnt ask for one either. And I didnt despair, I just got other rings [Wink] As you say, I might just have got a bad set. Tron

I've over two dozen pairs of Warne Rings, about half QD in either Premier or Maxima style. I've only had a problem with one set and Warne corrected that faster than I could have imagined. They sent out a new set of rings priority mail, plus a pre-paid shipping lable to return the defective set. Other than the one pair, I've never had trouble with any Warne rings, and I've had them on everything from .22LR to .50 BMG.
