Have a freind who just bought one of the last year production M70's a Super Grade in .375 H&H. He wants to mount a Leupold 1.75-6x32. I have Talleys and a 1.5-5 on my similar M70 but back when I mounted mine I recall that there was a problem with the 1.75-6's on a longer action. So Leupold made an "extended" tube model??? But I don't see another scope in their catalog. I thought I remembered something about too short a scope body.... OR.... Did those three days at Woodstock in 69 FINALLY catch up with me??? Simply...... Will that scope fit with Talley removeables on that rifle and if so...... what height rings? FN in MT 'I'm tryin' to think, but nothin' happens"! Curly Howard Definitive Stooge

It will fit, but just barely. You want the low rings. The bottom rifle is so set up:

CAS II, Thanks for the info as well as taking the time to post the digital. Appreciate it. I did my M70 way back in 1998 so forgot what I had ordered. Recollected SOMETHING about that particular scope, thats why I went with the 1.5-5X. Frank in MT 'I'm tryin' to think, but nothin' happens"! Curly Howard Definitive Stooge

Yep, the new VX-III 1.75-6x32 fits. Mine is on a M70 .416 Remington. And as CAS says - low rings. I do believe Leupold did lengthen the scope body some time back.

Don't forget talley also makes an extended front base that allows for closer ring spacing. Had to use them to mount a 2-7 leupold on my 375 m70. On mine the extended front base didn't extend back into the port but allowed just enough spacing for the short 2-7

Leupold used to make a 1.75-6x32 VariX-III that was too short to use on most magnum length receivers. Folks wanted to mount them on .375's and the like but the body was too short. To solve that they came out with the VariX-III 1.75-6x32E which had about .5" more ring mounting space. When they switched everything to the VX-III name they dropped the E off of the 1.75-6x32, but the ring spacing is the same as the E model VariX-III. Long story short, it will fit on a M70 classic in low talley mounts with about 1/4" to spare.
