Dean,
yep, it sure can be done on the cz, and should be about the cheapest gunsmithing you'll ever see... if you have the tools, you can do this in about 2 hours, total. if you fully understand what this work is, then it's a small job. however, it's not cost effective for one gun.

if you have a smith that has the reamer, it should be a quick deal, and 75-100 bucks. If you can't find someone with the reamer, www.reamerrental.com will have it. Make sure that your smith would understand that this is a rented reamer, and they are going to look at it under a 'scope when it comes back.

Since there are several smiths here on the board, if you can't find one local, ask one of them if they'll take the work, and ship the rifle to them. Ths shipping would be cheaper than the rental.

Jeff
thanks I booked a buffalo hunt and only have my ruger #1 in 458 lott. I want a bolt to hunt with but dont want to spend a furtune as I will unload it afterwards and keep my #1. When I get the Cz in the next month or so I post and see if I can get it rechambered. Dont know anyone who deals the cz550 that also could rechamber it?

When a cz550 is converted from 458 win mag to 458 lott, sometimes a tiny bit of work is needed to the rails or ramp to get the cartridges to center on the chamber so that soft points do not bind.
