Ok - I've got a short tubed scope that i'm trying to mount on my 602. Quesion is, can anyone that has a set of Talley's on their 602/550 (and owns a set of calipers) tell me the distance from the outside edge of the two rings (parallel with the bore) with the Talleys installed? See photo...

I have a 550 with Talley QD rings. I will try to remember to measure them tonight and reply tomorrow.

new_guy, That distance is 5.236" minimum when you have the forward Talley ring slid back as far as you can come and still have full contact of the ring clamping surfaces with the forward dovetail rails. This will work with a 2.5X M8 Leupold. What I have also is a 1.75X-6E VariX III that allows a bit greater spacing with the forward ring slid forward to about the middle of the front bridge dovetails. Your specified distance (with the Talley rings) the way I have them set for this one is 5.350". A longer scope tube would allow the maximum to be about 5.472" on my CZ 550 Magnum. Roughly, the minimum is 5-1/4", and the maximum would be 5-1/2", depending on the scope, and they all have to fall in that range, with Talley rings, for both the CZ 550 Magnum, and the BRNO ZKK 602. Having that front ring slid all the way forward for about 5.5" is the best way to go if your scope allows it, i.e., has enough tube length. Of course the rear ring is fixed by the recoil shoulder/tab/notch location. Thank you for helping me clarify this concept in my mind as well.

Thanks, RIP... you saved me S&H to and from Talley's but that leaves me about 1/4" short!!! Well, then I guess I'm on to the EAWs at twice the price. They have the recoil lug built into the front ring (that butts up against the rear of the front reciever ring) and they will get me to about 5" - which is where i need to be. Thanks again for taking the time to measure.

I used the 1.5x5, 1x4 and 3x on my CZ 404, 550 magnum with Talleys...I really liked the 3X best on it... Ray Atkinson Atkinson Hunting Adventures 10 Ward Lane, Filer, Idaho, 83328 208-731-4120 rayatkinsonhunting@gmail.com
