Am I seeing Wayne’s site correctly? The CZ upgrade page is no longer listed. Anyone have any info on this? Planning to shoot him an email today to clarify. I’ve a 458 Lott waiting to go to him for the final piece to my matching 300/375/458 set.

I have read that they are discontinuing the upgrades. They are booked up for the next year.

Possibly focusing on their Custom rifles more.

I have one of their DGR in 375 H&H . The rifle is a beauty, and about as perfect of a rifle as I have held .

I think that part of the market they filled will be missed very much .

Not to mention that CZ has stopped making the 550 Magnum. I have several AHR modified CZs. Great rifles, all. I hate to see this, but it seems to have happened.

Sure like my controlled feed CZ 550 in 9.3x62. What upgrades did AHR do to the 550 to make it better? Mine is and was a shooter out of the box.

I own (4) of those (CZ 550 9.3 x62). Wayne did his #3 package on two of them that I bought here on AR. I sent him a third one of mine which he converted to 9.3x66 with a #3 pkg.

I am/was? sending him my 4th one to convert to a 358 Norma Mag. I hope he will still do this work. His talent is amazing. I treasure his rifles as much as my Dakotas.

Wayne has also done his #3 pkg. for me on two other CZ 550s for me; a 30-06 and a 6.5x55. Damn, I hope he's still in business.

AHR mods include straightening the bolt handle, truing up the action, adding a three position, Win. Model 70-style, wing safety and a new, crisp, single stage trigger and double cross bolts - maybe I'm missing something, but I think those are the major mods.

All that Michael said above. I have only had Wayne do his #3 pkg., and he offers a #1 and #2 pkg. as well. The #3 has all of the upgrades of the #1 & #2, plus more. In addition to what was listed above, on my rifles with the #3, he adds:
1) Open sights (rear island & and banded ramp front w/fiber optic bead and hood).
2) Gorgeous wood stock (AAA Fancy English walnut) @ 22-lines-per-inch, with or without cheekpiece.
3) Pillar and glass bed.
4) Macassar Ebony fore-end tip on stock.
5) Barrel band front sling swivel.
6) Lap the bolt lugs.
7) Satin Gunkote finish on all metal surfaces.
8) 1" Decelerator recoil pad.

These are truly excellent rifles that are a joy to own & shoot!

Wayne confirmed via email he will no longer be offering CZ upgrades given how busy his full custom business has become.

That’s what you call good news and bad news.

Glad he’s too busy - not enough are.

It's true, I'm having to let the CZ 550 upgrades go. I have so much work, and it is getting harder to keep up with, so something had to give. I'm still selling the parts we use in the upgrades; triggers, safeties, etc. so other Gunsmiths can do the work. Here's an opportunity for a young talent.

So Wayne, if you're not working on CZs anymore, what custom rifles are you working on or producing?

Still working with CZ's and BRNO ZKK's, but full customs only and concentrating on the jobs that are already on the books until at least summer. I'll be offering some upgraded 550's for sale on my website but at my pace. I have a 375 H&H #2 coming up soon.

Wayne, glad to hear you're still working on CZs!

You said 'only full customs'. Is that the same as your #3 package?

I got his #1 CZ upgrade on my 500 Jeffery when I first got it for $500. It was a steal. Included, 3 pos M70 type safety, single stage match trigger, straighten and fill the bolt. A wonderful upgrade, sorry it's no longer being offered. My wood was already great and I like the open sights that came with the rifle.

Chuck

Chuck that’s a lovely looking rifle.

I can only look on in envy at the prices you could get work done on CZ’s and BRNO’s.
