I would like to install a Hoge CompStock on one of my rifles. How does it compare to a muzzle brake in reducing recoil? I realize that not all muzzle breaks are created equal but could you give me an idea? Thanks.

If your talking about the stock that compresses, I would think twice about this. The length of pull will shorten and if you are using a scope... All that I can say is OUCH! Scope bite for sure... also if your cheak is on the stock it slide on your face... Something to think about. Jay

My .375 H&H wears one (on a Hogue overmolded stock). Before any chopping was done, I talked to the tech guys at Hogue and found out how much "travel" it had--I was told about 1 1/2". So, I had the smith add about 3/4" over what the length of pull would have normally been. It also wears a Leupold 3-9X scope (for the eye-relief properties). Works quite well, and I haven't gotten "scope-eye" yet (knocks on wood).
