I noted earlier that I had found damage to the recoil block inside Leupold QRW rings used on relatively heavy kickers. These are the new rings using square inserts to lineup with the slots in Weaver type (Leupold steel) bases. The calibers in questions are .416 Aagaard (.376 Steyr necked up and improved), .416 Rigby, and .458 AR. Scopes involved are light (2.5 Leupold Compact) to heavier (1.5-5 Leupold IR) to heavy (Zeiss Conquest 1.8-5.5x) The rings have a line on the front edge caused by impact with the bases under recoil. I e-mailed Leupold service asking how to go about ordering replacement parts. Leupold service wrote back indicating that they had shipped replacement parts. New bases are being made that will have a recoil shoulder that pushes on the rings themselves to help minimize this problem. Please post pictures of the setup when done. FWIW, I use Kimber-style rings on my .470 Capstick; they do not have a recoil shoulder or slots, yet they do not move or deform. George | |||
