This question is along the same line as bwanamrm's question in the Double Rifle thread, about the .475 No. 2 Francotte at Cabela's. I have noticed over the last couple years Cabela's in Buda has Labuschagne/Bundock .505 Gibbs for sale. I have watched the price go back and forth from their regular price of $14,000.00 on the rifle to their sale price of $9,999.00, which is the current listing price. I have also noticed the rifle has been listed as sold on at least two or three occasion just to be again listed. Does anyone know the story on this rifle. I have thought about trying to trade on the gun but my experience has been that Cabela's operates on the principal of having you give them your gun and buy theirs.

I live near a couple Cabela's. It's strange that they have a price fluctuating back and forth. Usually once it's down, it stays down. That said, they may put it on sale every once in a while depending on their overhead in various gun libraries.

$4k seems like a big price drop, and when I see drops like that I wonder what kind of profit they were going after...

As far as trade, Cabelas will give you more on trade on a purchase of another gun rather than straight up sale, but either neither option will make you happy. The prices I overhear them offering people on some brought-in rifles is worse than a pawn shop.

Cabelas may ship guns to other stores for potential buyers to inspect, but that would likely be "pending" not "sold."

Perhaps there are feeding issues?? I'm not super keen on magnum bolt actions, but I would assume a full length extractor would be on a Gibbs size action.

Wish I knew more about the rifle. Not familiar with the Series VII action. The engraving is very nice on the floorplate!

Cabelas is hard to figure... some things are insanely over-priced, while sometimes I walk out of there with absolute steals...

I seem to recall that Cabela's will sell high end guns on consignment which coould explain the up and down price.

"Experience" is the only class you take where the exam comes before the lesson.
