Hey guys,

I already own a 358 norma, and I am thinking about getting a 375, as the selection of bullets I want to shoot is some what limited with the Norma.

I am looking for people who have shot the GS bullets and north folk bullets in large game, and thier experiance. I know the norma is almost the equivelent of the 375 H&H if not, but and correct me if im wrong. A bigger bullet being fired at a lower velocity should get less recoil and the same energy as a lighter bullet going faster for the same energy correct? I havn't taken physics, so if im wrong please dont jump all over my case about this. Any one with experiance with one particular brand of bullets in 375 please add your input.

Hi there

I have both calibres, but unfortunately I have not shot enough game to make any real comparision. However, I don't think there is going to be any effective difference on game.

I agree that the selection of hunting bullets is more limited with the .358 Norma than for the .375. However, one reason I wanted a .358 Norma is the *better* selection of bullets! Here, I mean practice, not hunting bullets though. The .375 does have a better selection of hunting bullets.

I use a lot of pistol bullets in the Norma -- precisely because these are much easier to get and much cheaper than any bullet for the .375. The accuracy of these pistol bullets can be very impressive!

I wish I had more information for you, but I'm doing all I can to shoot enough animals to be able to compare the calibres! [Smile]

I have used the .375 quite a bit, but I have never fired the Norma. Comparing a .375 to a .338 win mag on elk, I really cannot see any difference. But I still prefer the .375.

I have used GS Custom, but only the flat nose solids. They are great and cut a perfect hole in game, I doubt you would use those in your 375 except for elephant and buffalo. Perhaps others can comment on the GS custom HP and HV bullets.

If you are wanting to take a step up the power ladder then go to a 416 or 404, not the 375 as the 358 is so close you can't tell any difference in the field....

I have used the GS bullets in 338, 9.3, 375 and extensively in the 416, they are wonderful bullets for a monolithic..They just work and I will use on other solid than their FN...

I have used the North Fork bullets a good deal on Cape Buffalo in my 416 and to a lesser extent I have seen the North forks used in 375...I have had reports on the North Forks in several more calibers...They are the best of the best and if you have seen one recovered perfectly mushroomed North Fork from a game animal then you have seen them all..They clone every time, perfectly expanded toadstools.

DP,

I have used the North Forks in both .416 Rigby and .375 H&H.

I can only attest to the accuracy and lack of fouling in the .375 with these bullets.

The animals that I shot with the 300 grain bullets went completly through them. The Wart Hog went straight down and the Zebra went 30 yards.

My accuracy is under 1" at 100 yard with RL 15 powder, loaded at 2525 fps.

With that said, go for the .416. You will be impressed with this round.

Good luck,

SAM
