A friend of mine has a chance to purchase a very minty M70 in 375H&H. The owner has changed the recoil pad but otherwise it looks almost new. Blue is perfect, wood virtually perfect. Serial # is in the 400,XXX range. What is the going rate on something like this?
The guy also has a 348 lever action, in a deluxe grade. Wood is good but blue is maybe 50%. What would be a good price on this? This one is a long tang, pre war model.

That 375 should bring $2000 to 2500. in 99% condition...depending on how fast he wants to move it....

The 348s with 50% blue should bring between $375 and $400 in std. grade and a bit more in Deluxe...the 50% puts it in shooter catagory and out of the collectors catagory...thats my sight unseen analysis.

I might buy the 348 for a shooter or trade him out of it...If he is interrested...

Damn, I sure didn't think a 375 would bring that much money! But, when one is as minty as this one supposedly is...
That 348 is a pre war long tang, and from what little research I've done since starting this thread I gather they bring double what the later models do. There is one listed on GunsAmerica for $1900. and it is a 50% gun.

I surly think that 375 would bring that and most in the gunlist bring about that in that condition, which makes all the difference in the world....

On the 348 I don't think any 50% gun, that means its half worn out, is worth $1900. regardless of when it was made but that surly doesn't mean one cannot ask that for it. I can find you a real nice long tang Mod.71 (near 90%) for less than $1900. A real nice 86 can be found for about $1900 these days.

collectors want mint guns and only mint guns, they will pay the big bucks. Hunters, on the other hand will pay little for worn out collector guns or at least that has been my experience.

I pay $375 for any kind of used m-70 pre 64's and $400 for magnums, the whole gun or the action, as long as they have salvagable actions, free of deep pits.....
