I have a Sako AV Hunter in 375 H&H in a McMillan stock. It has a floorplate (which I like). It has a slightly longer bolt lift than the Sako 75 that dj has. It is a great rifle.



I am going to get an M-70 for a DGR rifle, but it will be in 416 Remington. I anticipate that I will have to have a fair to major amount of post purchase work done on the Winchester. The Sakos are usually very smooth running out of the chute. Winchester's quality control is poor, so it is hit or miss on getting a smooth and tight rifle right out of the box.



When I get a Winchester model 70 I will put it in a D'arcy Echols Legend stock. McMillan makes them, but only Mr. Echols sells them.



I carried a Sako in the woods in Alaska for several years. It never bobbled once on me.



I would base your choice on which gun fits you the best. Buy used. Then you can afford to have any necessary tweaking done. You really could not go wrong with either rifle. That is why I will eventually have both.



I am not trustworthy, but dj and GeorgeS both are.

On top is the 375. Below that is a 416. The Sako stocks have a touch of cast off, so they point very naturally, like a good shotgun.
