Getting ready to start a build and am hoping I can locate someone with the genuine Petrov-spec reamer willing to loan or rent. No huge hurry. Feel free to PM if you prefer.

Wish I could help you Bill but when I built mine Mr Petrov was kind enough to loan me his reamer.
I wonder what happened to his collection when he passed, his estate would have been very interesting to go through with him and hear the history.
I think I may have a chamber drawing / print if you need it or if it would help.

Dave, I have that print, so I can have one made if need be. Thanks.
I would love to have my rifle chambered with Michael's reamer, if I could find out who has it.

Was thinking about the same thing and would have had access to a 400 Brown Whelen reamer, which is slightly different from the Petrov version. Anybody know how much different they are? Then I found a 404 Jeffery and went that route.

I think I remember talking with Michael about this reamer and he said he had borrowed it from Jack Haugh. From what I understand Jack is quite ill however one of his sons still uses the shop and it's phone number. It might be worth checking with him. Good luck...

Kevin Weaver, who built Snellstrom's .400, lists a .400 Whelen and has an excellent reputation as a riflesmith.

Kevin took quite an interest in the whole 400 Whelen craze when I brought him Mr Petrov's reamer for my project and he may have procured a reamer since then, I wouldn't doubt it he was very intrigued by it.
You are also correct he is an exceptional riflesmith.
