I'm currently building a few rifles and just realized how nice of a rifle you can actually build off of a M-88 action. This got me thinking about a few things. In your own opinion, what is the most attractive action in itself, sans stock or barrel?
I'm still a sucker for the pre-64 model 70's, however those old german rifles never fail to amaze me!
So let's hear it!

Rem 721 for a bolt gun.
Multiple Holland and Richards choices for single and double guns and Ruger No. 1 is up there too.
Stoner rifles for semi-autos.

For bolt actions the modern day Schultz & Larsen action is the top of the top.

I am really impressed by the Empire setup. Pre war model 70 will always be near the top of the list. Dr.C thumb

I was kind of suprised some time ago when I really stopped and looked at a m77 mk2 action ......and now with the more attractive bottom metal it gets my vote for #1..

I've really fancied the 96 Mauser lately for some projects.
The M70 Win have been a big favorite for a long time so have the 03 Springfields. I keep thinking about a 1917 Enfield too, I'm a sucker for them all!
Gumboots idea of the Ruger M77 is a great deal too.

I'm also a fan of the '96 mauser. I like the set-up for the shroud, cocking piece and safety.

It's not a CRF, but I prefer the looks of the German Voere action.

Two words: Swedish Mauser....with the acquired taste of the straight bolt handle and fantastic finish as blue as it was 100 years ago when the Carl Gustafs works gave birth to her, nothing compares.

From a pure aesthetic stand-point, it's tough to beat the Dumoulin-Herstal A 2000 LM. I love the extended trigger guard. The Brevex series is a close second.

Yep just don't get too close to Dave, he rubs off a little too easy. He talked me into my first 96 a couple of weeks ago, the problem was he didn't even twist my arm. Big Grin Can't wait to see how this rifle shoots. Kimber sporterized M96 6.5X55.

The side lever single shot action built by Alan Hall was my favorite for good looks. Too bad he only built a few.
