I got one. Wood stock around $1000 at Cabela. I like the look and feel. It was a little rough & sticky working the bolt. Thats ok now. And I had a couple feeding snafus. But its a heck of bargin! yes - I just like it. It feels good to me. Only shot a little off hand. I agree recoil is not bad. I cannot comment on accuracy and no plans to mount a scope.

I have 550's in 375H&H, 416 Rigby, and 450 Dakota(rechambered 458 Lott)and you are correct about the recoil with your numbers. As you may have read, I took my 450 Dakota to Zimbabwe last December and got a very nice Cape Buffalo with it. My PH thought the set trigger was a marvelous feature, as do I. For African DB hunting there is nothing to compare it with until you get over $3000. You have chosen well, young Jedi!! Rich Buff Killer

IGM just two weeks ago. Damn sweet. I had CZ in Kansas City chop the barrel to 22", do an action job and had the barrel bedded. I chose the field grade wood, and it, too, is much prettier than expected. Won't be pretty for long, however, it's got some work to do. She doesn't "kick," she gives a good push. Seems like in every other thread the 458 Lott kicks like a mule and here you guys are saying it's just a big push. ____________________________ If you died tomorrow, what would you have done today ... 2018 Zimbabwe - Tuskless w/ Nengasha Safaris 2011 Mozambique - Buffalo w/ Mashambanzou Safaris

Sevens, I am certainly no ballistics expert but I spend a fair time around guns. Recoil on the Lott is significant, but, if the stock fits you like it should, and there is proper weight in the rifle itself, the Lott is quite manageable. Now, I'm 230 and 73 inches so there is some weight there as well. My first 375 kicked the dog piss out of me. The one I own now is simply sweet. The Lott is a fair step up, but it is a good push (to me anyway) rather than a damn mule kick to the shoulder. Dan Donarski Hunter's Horn Adventures Sault Ste. Alot depends on how rested you are before you shoot. If the weather is warm and you had a month or two before shooting it,things will be easier. If you've been shooting it often and have a bruised shoulder and the weather is cold,it's really going to kick you.I was playing hockey today and fell on my bum on the same spot I did a couple weeks before and it's now swolen and as big as a grapefruit. Can't walk on my leg either-got to drag it.I think being well rested is VERY important.

I have had one for a little over a year now, I had the action on mine tuned and smoothed out, and now it feeds as slick as snot on a brass door knob. I have also found it to be a helluva hog gun with 405 grain hardcast bullets at 2500 fps! My CZ in .416 Rigby isn't too bad either. The recoil is brisk, but the rifle won't beat you up and stomp you into the ground. "Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence"-Carl Sagan
