I have the chance of a used but very good condition Birmingham made PH 1200 Safari in .375H&H for about the same price as a new CZ550 safari in the same calibre. I know PH produced same decent working grade rifles on surplus Mauser actions, but how do they compare to the Modern CZ??? Which is the best value for money? Which is the best platform for any future custom work? Thanks in advance, Pete

I think the 1200 Safari Grade is a great comm. rifle and would lean towards it over a CZ....Pick the one that feels and looks best to you is the best advise....Both are good guns. ------------------

Pete E, I love CZ 550 model. But I have had the same case as you with a Parker Hale M82 in .308 Win. I have pruchased this used Parker Hale for nearly the same price as new CZ rifle. Have you the picture of it? I'll go with the Parker Hale model. I don't in which condition is this Parker Hale 90% over or less??? ------------------

Provided the Parker is is good condition I would go with it. That is just my personal preference.

The P-H 1200 I have is a mauser opened up at the front to take 375 cart. The cz is probably a true magnum length already.Mark

The PH is a real mauser and I would get it.

My P-H has a trigger block safety that I will have to do away with. Somehow, I will turn it into a striker block. The CZ already is a striker block. Sarge

Thanks for the advice... I now have a line on two .375 H&H's P-H both in supposedly in good condition...They are both the same price buth one comes with a 6x42 scope! No idea what the scope is as yet, but it might be enough to get me up and running until the bank stretches to something decent.. Aldo got my eye on a 9.3x62 Husqvarna`98 `Big-Game` for a good price and a I'm going to ring today to see if there are any picture available and if so I will post them... Thanks for the advice, Pete
