Getting bore with the lousy weather so I thought I'd cook up some different loads for the 600JDJ Ruger. I've got a bunch of home cast 800gr flat noses & 900gr SP Hawk's laying around gathering dust so I'm going to try a case full of Hodgdon's 777 FFg behind them. I'll put a .125" card was behind the cast bullet. We'll see what the chrono says Cool

I'll let you know Buck. I'm thinking that roughly 150-ish grs might give me 1300-1600 for the 800grnr. I'd like to get the 900gr SP up around 1750 but that might need me to dose it with FFFg. Should give a nice little poof on ignition Cool

Well boys---the first 3 rounds tripped through the old chrono at 1415 fps just about what I thought. Cases fell right out of the chamber. Going to try 115grns next. Big booming smoke cloud Cool---Give it a try Buck---you'll like it tu2

Awesome, 1600 fps for a 807 bullet, 600 cal. will be an excellent buffalo load!
Good Job. Brian

Hello 600 Overkill:

One of the pet loads in my 600 JDJ is 55g IMR4759 with a 900 Woodleigh bullet = 1500 fps and 71.0 ft/lbs recoil

Buck---that's pretty close to a load i'm testing if the friggin weather stops. It's a little lower dose of 5744 w/o filler. I've shot a lot of these bullets with RL-7, 4198 types around 1500fps with fillers.
The 777 is fun and low pressure. Little more case clean up but that's no big deal. I think I'll try the 900gr Woodies seated out a little farther with a case full of 777 for the fun to see how fast they fly. I bet I can get 1600+ Cool
