It will probably be unveiled at the SHOT Show, and possibly, the SCI Convention. Or not.

Thanks George for the reply! Look forward to seeing it unveiled soon! Does anyone know what action are they going to use for the 505 Gibbs? Hoping they will be using a better (bigger?) action than the 550 MAG! Thanks!

A picture of the new rifle is in the 2005 CZ catalogue. Call CZ and they will send you a catalogue and provide details. However, the picture in the catalogue does not seem to correspond well to the details I was provided over the phone.

My understanding based on discussing with CZ is that the rifles are on the 550 mag. action with the barrel made in here in the US (I was unable to obtain who makes the barrel). The new chamberings/rifles (505, 450 Rigby, and 404 J) come with a barrel band swivel, choice of matte or gloss finish, action "slicked up"?, fancy American walnut stock, recoil reducer for the 505. They call these guns "custom" and are taking orders for them...delivery is 4 to 8 weeks. There are others options that they may provide...unsure about that. I was told they have shipped a couple of the 505's already.

Forgot to add that pricing for the 505 Gibbs is $1850 and $1750 for 450 and 404...If I remebered correctly. I also understand CZ is going to offer ammo (A-square) for these calibers.

I'll be at the SHOT Show and plan on hitting the CZ booth. I'll get the scoop and post it.

I saw on for sale at SCI Dallas in a store..and they are listed for sale in the gun list now, so they are available...

The 559 action is large enough for a 505 Gibbs with room to spare, and it will hold 4 down and one up...

Ray, could you expand on that a little? Longer magazine? Bigger bolt diameter? Stock going to survive?

The CZ 550 is a very big action with a massive magazine, it will hold 6 down in a 375 and one up..It is long enough for about any big bore as evidenced by the fact that they went with the 505 Gibbs as opposed to the 500 Jefferys....I saw a 550 in a 460 some time ago and the owner loved it, it held 4 down and one up, thats pretty good....as to the bolt it apparantly is plenty big....A call to CZ might be of interrest to you. It seems to me the 550 will be as good as the Enfields and a lot less expensive...

As to the stock, well I would reinforce it in every way I could with a 505 or it will come out of there, cross bolts, full glass, extra recoil lug, all these things are necessary with any caliber from 458 Lott up...

Absolutely "Yes!" to the steelglass bedding and, if for no other reason than they just look right, the crossbolts. CZ big boomers already come (or at least came) with barrel lugs so I believe that you could cover all concerns with a very modest investment. If I wasn't trying to sell my Brno .450 Rigby to buy Perry's Pedersoli, I'd be in line for a .505 in a heartbeat.
