I just got a E-mail from Jeff at Montana rifle saying that there was not enough orders to justify a left handed model. Lefties we need you to rally and get the orders up. Do not tell me you don't need a 500 something in your battery.

What can I build on it? Can I do a .500 A-Square?

I'd be interested if I could.

pertinax,
That action if for cartridges from the .375H&H- up to .505Gibbs-length cartridges, so a .500A2 will fit.

Montana Rifle has 40 left-handed actions in there charter program. They need 152 to cover the tooling charges. I hope the eighty six people that looked at this post call over there and sign up.

Solution: work hard at getting a bunch of left handed kids, who will all need to inherit at least one LH big bore rifle each. Presto, problem solved Wink (Sorry Max, could not resist, I'll crawl back into my cage now...)

What is positive in this rather sad news, is that it seems like MRC is taking a hard look at when/if/what to do with the PH. I know that will be cold comfort to you Southpaws, but at least something might be happening...

mike,
funny you say that. i started the kid thing a little later than most. my only son is 10 years old and left handed like me. put all my stuff ,guns, flyrods, etc in future danger. i actually wanted to build "him" a 416 rigby. already got a bunch of bullets, dies, cases, and the chamber reamer.

I ordered mine a few months back. Just talked with them today and they said it would probabley be the first of next year before they would run them... Am looking at one of their long actions for the near future. After waiting for my Shiloh for 5 years, I'd be happy to see them produce this one in the next 2 years. The other options are 3-7 times the price for a lefty for the big cartridges.

Well, it worked: I just put in an order for one. I'm not especially patient, so I resisted placing a pre-production order until now. But I really like the look of a square-bridge action, and if they can make one in left-hand it'll be worth the wait.

Max, I know what you mean. My son is only two, but needless to say, his Dad is already dreaming of handing down some of the toys Cool. But it would be a bit of a bummer to have your kids grow up and not be able to use your gear... Roll Eyes (I'm not even considering the possibility they may not want to thumbdown). Ah well, for now, this is a perfect excuse to get more toys...

If the 234 people that viewed this topic signed up, Montana rifle will built a left handed action. As lefties we no actions of this length that do not cost a fortune. It does not cost anything to sign up.

My son is 15 and left handed like me. He has access to everything I own. He opted for his own left handed Remington 700 BDL in 308 for his first big game rifle. I hope he will want my hand me downs later.

I think your son made an excellent choice in the 308 for his first hunting rifle.
Buy him a couple of thousand rounds of good surplus 308 military ammo for practice and he will be in hog heaven. Cool thumb

WARNING...WARNING...WARNING... Eeker shame
DO NOT SHOOT YOUR SONS 308...
If you do you will want one too. Big Grin

mike,
i am not worried about his desire to use my stuff. that is already ingrained. his current favorites are my ar 15 in 9mm and my sniper rifle that i have for work. it also doesn't hurt that the ammo for these two are free. i just got him a daly left handed 223. he is still in an arm cast, but we will be ready again when it comes off. hopefully by the time the stripers come back up the river . a month after that the baby chucks can make it without their mama. my concern is american politics and development.
