Charles_HelmThat looks very businesslike. Are those sights from NECG? How long is the barrel?
You might want a thicker recoil pad!

N E 450 No2If I remember correctly Tip Burns did the work on Rustys 404 Jeffery. [Rusty correct me if I am wrong].
That 404 wasput together very well, I shot it, and for a rifle with only one barrel, it was nice.

It was very plesant to shoot.

You are correct -- he did both of them (except I think Mr. Valicek did the stock work).

jimatcatthanks guys....this gun is intended for a south texas truck/brush gun... so barrel length is 20"... i forgot to mention the allen headed action screws... tip made those too!!!...i like the necg barrel band type sights...i wavered back and forth between folding express sights and adjustable rear, and chose the adjustable.... i bought the donor rifle from an austin tx pawn shop in january on the way home after being iced in (or out) of the january DRSS shoot...it was already drilled and tapped to a remington 30 contour... i may not scope this rifle, and i don't anticipate a shot longer than 125 yds, so the irons will work for me... for now anyway...

Hog KillerJim, I like the way you are having this rifle set up. I agree with Charles, about fitting a better recoil pad. Tim Burns is truely a gifted smith. Any idea when it will be finished?

Charles_HelmThanks for the details. It will be a compact and very effective rifle when complete.
I was just looking at the NECG sights yesterday and though those looked familiar.

jimatcatit was going to the parkeriving vat today... i'm planning to go to tips weekend after next to see what it looks like and pay tip.... then make arrangements to get the stock to mr. valicek for stippling instead of checkering, some kind of finish, i want a non-glossy oil finish, and the rear sling swivel... as far as the recoil pad, thats what came on the stock from boyd's...i'll look at a decelerator or limbsaver then...

RustyCongrats on the new rifle! Yes, Tip Burns does good work! And he's one heck of a nice guy too. His whole family are a great bunch of folks!
His work on my 404 Jeffery projects was awesome! I'm proud to have his and John's names on my rifle!

I guess you could say that. I am about 200 miles south of Dallas and a little over 200 north of Victoria.

Rusty and others are absolutely correct, you are not going to find an finer guy and family as Tip and his family!!

bwanamrmVery nice.... a true working rifle!
