SABI 500 Jeffery
This is an example of a SABI 500 Jeffery on a Mauser action. Built about 3 years ago. Very nice work.

Geez, how is recoil with that thing? That stock has a very high comb and is almost straight back.

Nice rifle, the Sabi seem very well made and I love the peep. Might I inquire which make and model the peep is and if you use it as a true peep sight or as a ghost ring? Thanks!

It's a ghost ring and is SABI'S own manufacture I understand. Fully adjustable. As I say they do nice work although I believe the man who did this rifle is no longer working.

whould be nearly the perfect lines for a hard recoiling rifle...

drop and low comb means muzzle flip, case in point, rger #1 in 458 v rem model30s in teh same...

30s weighs less, and comes straight back.. reducing FELT kick.

Besides, a 500jeffe only kicks about 10% mroe than a lott,,, at least with me shooting them side by side in similar shaped stocks

looks to be very well done, the nose maybe a little high for some/me, but I bet if you straight edge C/line of barrel its got close to an 1" drop at the heel, or looks it to me. like to see what the right side of the grip looks like.

I had Sabi Rifles re-make my own (L/H) action to a .500 Jeffery and I love it dearly. They produced a real fast handling rifle for me and the recoil is taken care of with a mercury tube arrestor in the stock. The only things I've changed since the rebuild is a friend made me an extended mag which takes it to 3 & 1 and I fitted a larger foresight..... As you can see, the rifle takes a bit of a hammering but that's part of being a PH.

I see that Zimbabwe (like me) also likes a short barrel...... Wink

I can't believe a Zimbabwe PH is using a Weatherby!!!!

Just kidding...Looks like a beautiful rifle. Is Sabi still in business? I thought they went out a few years ago. Maybe I am thinking of Vektor?

We're going to be "gifted" with a health care plan we are forced to purchase and fined if we don't, Which purportedly covers at least ten million more people, without adding a single new doctor, but provides for 16,000 new IRS agents, written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that didn't read it but exempted themselves from it, and signed by a President, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, for which we'll be taxed for four years before any benefits take effect, by a government which has already bankrupted Social Security and Medicare, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that's broke!!!!! I don't operate in Zim and the reason It's a Weatherby action is that it was the only left hand action I could buy at the time....... but nevertheless Sabi Rifles are still in business in Nelspruit RSA (not far from where I live) - They're doing pretty well and still making somre great rifles........ you'll find them at www.sabirifles.co.za -- I believe they're updating their website at the moment....

Shakari,
The weatherby comment was a poor excuse for humor on my part. For the record, there is more than one in my gun safe! As to Vektor, are left hand actions available from them anymore. I understand that at one time they were making a Magnum Mauser in LH. Any connections?

From the "What it's Worth Department" here are some pics of the Houston Safari Club President's Rifle. A 500 Jeffery that was made by Tip Burns and stocked by John Valicek. The rifle was actioned off at the convention.

Roscoe,

My mistake.

As Alf says Vector are no more but I believe Sabi Rifles are now using a L/H action made by Granite mountain Rifle Actions (or similar name)

I saw one the other day, and it looked bloody nice........
