This book has been around forever. I picked up a copy a while back and just finished it today. It is not a hunting book, nor is it necessarily the best written book, but the story is absolutely fascinating. How two young people from Kansas ended up as world travelers and adventurers, filming adventures in the South Pacific and Africa, meeting and sharing adventures with the Duke and Duchess of York, Carl Akeley, George Eastman (of Eastman Kodiak fame), Blayney and Phillip Percival, etc. Just an amazing story of someone, Martin in particular, that knew exactly what he wanted to accomplish in life and lived for new adventures. Mike, thanks for the post. This is a book I have long wanted to read, but had simply forgotten about it. There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t. – John Green, author

Having read the books written by the Johnson's, I stopped in Chanute,Kansas where they have the Johnson's Safari Museum. It's more than worth the effort to get there. While at the museum I purchased a set of DVD's called Classic Safari Films. I've on more than one occasion watched these movies of an Africa long since gone. These would go along well with your book. Just a thought.

Read it as well. Good book, not great. This couple was "The Crush with Lee and Tiffany" 80 years ago. I got a kick out of the story of how here pet chimp got himself electrocuted and the story on some of the dangerous game charges. Entertaining book.
