Another deer stand read. This one actually took 2 seasons, because I started it last year, and it got lost in the shuffle and, while attempting to clean up, I found it under a pile of later reading material and added it to this seasons agenda. This is a fairly exhaustive analysis of the Bush/Cheney years as President and VP. Book was based on events and hundreds of interviews with the people involved. Bush would not consent to an interview because he thought that a correspondent from the NY Times would not be fair to his "legacy". I found the book to be more than fair IMO (especially because I detest Bush for Iraq). Bush, to me, came across as a very good politician, more likable than you'd expect, more emotional than you'd expect, who's intellect, while better than some would think, was not capable of analyzing the possible ramifications of many of his choices. The book puts to bed the common theme that Cheney ran the Presidency. Bush, because of lack of Washington experience did rely on Cheney much more in his first 4 years, but they grew somewhat apart during the last 4, especially over the Scooter Libby case. It does show how flawed the run up to the Iraq War was, not really in anything the author wrote, but just telling details of the process of how it was handled. At any rate, it's 650 plus pages and will tell you more than you might want to know about how Bush and Cheney ran the country. xxxxxxxxxx When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. If not, why support someone who doesn't support us? Consider spending your money elsewhere. NEVER, EVER book a hunt with BLAIR WORLDWIDE HUNTING or JEFF BLAIR. I have come to understand that in hunting, the goal is not the goal but the process. | ||
