I just picked up a pristine copy of Mellon's African Hunter and love it. Can someone explain the format of II? Obviously the authors are different but is the format the same? Is II an updated version of I showing the current hunting areas? Would someone fill me in?

They seem to have attempted to replicate the format, although I find the two significantly different. Where are you located? I'm sure someone in your area would let you take a look.
