Hunting the central African jungles has been and will be a dream of mine until I can manage to get there (probably going to take a while). Despite the glamour and adventure of hunting bongo and forest elephant I have had trouble finding books focused on hunting them. Thus far I've read a lot of Boddington and Flack and their scattered chapters addressing forest hunting as well as von Meurers Buffalo, Elephant, & Bongo. Anyone have recommendations for good books predominantly dealing with forest hunting? "The true test of a man's character is what he does when no one is watching". - John Wooden

You might ask Ellen Enzler-Herring at Trophy Room Books. She published at least one book about a French hunter's exploits in West Africa. (I've forgotten his name or the book's title_. I suspect she also has collectible books by earlier publsihers on the subject. Bill Quimby

Peter Flack is writing a book on bongo now for publication in the next year or so. If it is like the other ones he is doing recently, it will be a stunner.

Thank you for the advice. Dogcat, I had heard Flack was writing a book dedicated to bongo and am anxiously awaiting its completion. "The true test of a man's character is what he does when no one is watching". - John Wooden
