T.R.Roosevelts Hunting Trips of a Ranchman and the Wilderness Hunter is an excellent account of hunting and ranch life in the Dakotas and Rockies.One really fascinating aspect to me was how much game he and his ranch hands took for their daily consumption they rarely ate beef.
